Hope Ryan, M.A. — Psychotherapist

I have spent 4 decades listening, really listening, to the stories people carry within them. I often say that no two stories are alike. It’s why after 40 years of practice I still approach each person with curiosity rather than assumption.

My work has taken me across borders and cultures, including 20 formative years living and practicing psychotherapy in Amsterdam. There my understanding of human experience deepened, shaped by a rich tapestry of language, traditions and ways of seeing the world. Today my practice reflects multicultural sensitivity, welcoming all individuals and couples from all walks of life.

People come to me for many reasons. Some arrive burdened by anxiety or depression, others struggling with addiction, relationship challenges or long-standing personality patterns that no longer serve them. Some can’t quite name what’s wrong; they just know something is off. I meet them where they are.

My approach is grounded in both classical psychotherapy and body-centered therapy, based on a simple but powerful belief: We are not just minds, and we are not just bodies. We are whole beings. Thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and lived experience are all interconnected. I help clients uncover not only why they feel the way they do but how those feelings live and move within them and create their experience.

There is no script to my sessions, no one-size, no cookie cutter approach using only one modality. Instead I tailor my therapy to each individual because healing, like storytelling, is deeply personal.

Some clients need insight and structure; others need space to feel and process. Many need both.

Over the years I have witnessed something remarkable: when people feel seen and understood, change begins — not all at once but steadily, authentically, and in ways that last.
